Q & A
Q) Why Rescue Farm animals?
A) Farmed animals are the most exploited and least protected group of animals in the world.
27 million are killed in the United States alone each day, with 10 billion animals losing their life for food each year. These animals lead a life of misery, without exercise, a compassionate touch, or even natural light, from the moment they are born to when they are slaughtered.
Q) What do they do to Farm Animals in Factory Farms?
A) Farmed animals are exempt from most federal and state anti-cruelty laws, and are routinely mutilated via de-beaking, de-horning, chopping off toes, tails, castration without anesthesia, and more. They are confined into stalls or cages in which many cannot turn around, walk, move their limbs, or even lie down.
Q) What are Farm Animals like?
A) Sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, and rabbits-the rescuedanimals currently being cared for at Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary-are intelligent, curious, funny, and interesting animals. They are all individuals with their own histories, wants, likes and hates, and all, now that they are living in an environment where they no longer suffer, can express their individual personalities in any way that they like.
Q) What Can I do to Help Farmed Animals?
A) You can stop eating meat and animal products, and can support organizations like Harvest Home that rescue these animals and provide permanent loving homes for them.
Q) What are the Benefits of Going Vegetarian?
A) Vegetarians have lower blood cholesterol levels, less risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, lower incidences of obesity, and lower risk of prostate cancer than meat eaters. By eliminating meat from your diet, you will save an acre of trees per year, and will help stop the destruction of rainforests (used for cattle grazing), slow down the rate of species extinction, use less water, and could provide enough grains to feed many of the world's hungry human beings.
