Clare (the black ‘n white lop on the right) went on a date with a handsome bunny named Arlo on November 28th.  As you can see from the photo things went well, and Clare went home that day with Arlo and his human mom Emily.  Within a week, the arrangement was made permanent.   Clare’s internal ear problems will likely never be completely resolved.  It appears that the abscess that destroyed her left ear drum is not returning, but a small amount of pus still forms in both ears which Emily checks and cleans daily.  Flushing with sterile saline solution is done as needed.  The opening that Dr. Harvey created to allow draining and flushing is staying open on its own and the red rubber tube that was surgically inserted has been removed.  Fur has regrown on the shaved area, and it’s hard to tell where the opening is if you don’t know where to look.

Clare continues to be amazingly cooperative about having her ears prodded and poked, and she’s off all medications.  We’ll post updates about her periodically, including new photos of the happy couple.    So, after multiple surgeries that were funded by donations to Harvest Home, it’s a happy ending for our Clare Bear.  But there are always many other bunnies in need of veterinary care.  If you’d like to help by making a tax-deductible donation, please contact us at klcourt@aol.com .
